I just notcied this article today.
http://www.medpagetoday.com/PrimaryCare/Smoking/27591

Only 18.43 percent of the teens with hearing problems were aware of their problem.

1.83 times more likely. Wow. With all the teens wearing ear plugs these days you would wonder how any smoke manages to get in at all.
I'm 21, and they aren't earplugs, they are earphones. Just because you don't grasp the concept that your hearing aid, and my earphones are essentially doing the same thing doesn't mean you need to down talk the youth. After all its us that are going to be taking care of you when you get old...well older ;)

hey now maxC no need to attack our age...especially because one person makes a joke. I wear earphones too, and you're right they are amplifying the sound. But the funny thing is you have hearing aids as well from what i've heard. Maybe hask just doesnt get the concept of an ipod or anything of that nature hehe. I'm quite a bit older than you but I don't think i you should attack age as hask did. plus until they make portable record players i dont think hask will understand the concept of earphones or earbuds
oh I didn't mean it maliciously at all. I was joking back with hask :)

I figured somebody would be alarmed at having a published article in the Published Articles part of the forum.
We usually see questions & general banter in this part.

Okay guys, I thought it was pretty obvious that my remark was meant to be humorous, I guess not. Realistically people that smoke don't give a damn that the smoke they are inhaling may be killing them, so they certainly don't care what their second hand smoke may be doing. And the 1.83 likelihood is pretty insignificant. The bottom line is that if we all wear "earbuds" or hearing aids then we are immune from this dreaded threat, at least as far as our hearing is concerned. Correct? And although I don't talk down to youth ever, I do remember at a little league meeting the guest speaker asked all of us old geezers, "Think back to when you were 16, and tell me how many decisions you made back then you can now look back at and think of them as wise decisions" Of course you have to be older then dirt to appreciate that question.

I must be older than dirt then too. I, for one, recognized your original remark as quite humorous.
