Hi All,

Just now joined this forum.

I need information on what opinions you have on Beltone hearing aids. The audiologists recommended the "Edge" digital BTE model. I did try on a pair, yes both ears, and I thought they did a great job of helping me hear much better.

Next I would like to hear if what anyone has to say about these HA's and if Beltone has any quality. I have read that most HA's last for about five years. This seems like a very short time for the expense and does not speak much for a quality product. (I expect to live much longer.) The units recommended are guaranteed for one year.

Now the next part is the cost. Two units have been priced at $4200. (Discounted from $5200) I would like to know if this is overpriced, can do better, fair price, etc. I have been told my a person I respect very much that the mark-up is about 800 percent.

Any and all comments, bad or good, wanted and appreciated.

Thank you,

Skeeter ;)

I assume that they are offering you the Beltone Edge open fitting hearing aids, with a small behind the ear instrument and a small tube and dome fitting into the ear.

The price, $4,200 is not bad, as they also need to cover their overhead and pay their employees, rent, etc.

As far as the instruments go, you will find Beltone and GN Resound products to be quite similar in features and benefits, as they are the same company. Yet you can sometimes find a GN Resound dealer that can offer you better pricing, especially on their Resound Air products.

I personally like the Phonak Micro Eleva, which to me offers a lot more for around the same price and is also remote capable and the auto pilot automatic program switching and feedback cancellation works extremely well.

I also like the Sonic Innovations Ion open fit device also. Both offer a 2-3 year warranty standard, which is often better than most others.

All hearing aids last around 5 years and should be replaced, so you need to figure that into your budget. Roughly, most people spend $800-$1,000 per year ammortized.
Let us know how you do with whatever you end up getting.

Hi Skeeter,
I wore Beltone for 22 years and I always thought they did a good job for me. Mine usually lasted about 6-7 years. They were all ITE, ITC, or CIC. In 22 years I had 1 replaced for stepping on it. And had one repaired. Pretty good quality I think. I am now going to try the Siemens Centras because of more features than I have ever had. I also wanted a remote and Data-logging to try to get the best fit I could get. I think I am getting mine for around 3200 my cost through insurance at work. But your prices sound about right. Good luck with them.

I own Beltone Edge2 OTE which I think are great! The customer service was excellent and their overall approach was very helpful.

let see
the beltone edge is a copy of the pulse. So im not surprise it went well with you.
I would stay away Sonic In - they might not be around in 2 more years
the company does not make enough money to even cover their general sales and admin expenses!, I dont think they will last for a while

Any body get a price on the Beltone Marq. I have a bad feeling I am being ripped off and I still have time to get out. It feels like a bad car dealer.

Help?

I got a quote for a little over $6000 on a pair. I am thinking I can do better for that kind of money.

The Marq 17 runs about $3600 each one so $7,200 a pair
and the Marq 9 $3300. each - so $6,600 a pair.

Most Beltone Centers discount it a little from that quote. But that is the
number that they have to start with.

this is real pricey, for this kind of money you can get any wireless instrument with bluetooth. far superior to the marq
