this has frequency transposition...
i guess widex is not alone so far....
I would like to see how it would work as
traditionally clients reject frequency transposition instruments....
this should be interesting...

it simply sound wired and very unnatural
it is true you do improve speech discrimination
but the sound is unpleasant

Frequency transposition is basically the same as frequency lowering. Normally an attempt is made to lower all the frequencies (the fundamental frequency plus harmonics) of a persons voice to try to move those frequencies to a range that can be heard by a person with high frequency hearing loss.
For example a person may not be able to hear the frequencies at 3000 Hz but may be able to hear frequencies at 2500 Hz with a hearing aid. Depending on the fundamental frequency, either of those frequencies could be the center frequency of the power consonant range (frequency range at which much of the clarity for consonants is developed). Lowering all frequencies of a voice so that the power consonant range is lower can help a person hear better.
However there are several problems. Women and children can start to sound like men. An even bigger problem is the ability to try to identify only problematic voices and only lower the frequencies that comprise those sounds.
It would not be desireable to lower the frequencies of all sounds (non problematic voices, background sounds, singers voices, musical instruments, etc.). Until the technology becomes much more advanced, I doubt that this would be a viable alternative except for the most severe high frequency hearing loss.

you are missing also another big issue
frequency transposition should be an option when the are of the cochlea is dead. Traditionally, you could suspect a dead region after say 80dbhl (more or less if i recall well), to my knowlegde you need to use the Ten test,
Widex Inteo has not been terribly sucessfull, so it is not a simple task,
phonak has great deal of resources invested so they should have a good chance...

Do they have a frequency transposing hearing aid that will move the frequencies up instead of lowering them? I need this.

I wouldn't imagine so as it would cause big issues with upward spread of masking, worsening speech disrimination.

So downward transposition does not cause as much masking as trasnposing upwards?
