I uprated to a Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headset for watching/listening TV (COLBY CV-E162) This unit is also designed to be used with cell phones.

It works great, I can actually understand the actors. but there is one problem, when the wife turns up the volume on the TV so she can hear, I get the sound from both sources but the digital sound is delayed and it's like I am in an echo chamber.

My old analog unit originally sold by Radio Shack (Earbuts with a small belt pack receiver) doesn't have this problem.

Could this echo effect be typical for Bluetooth digital devises?
It does this while the sending unit is plugged into Audio-out on the TV and also in Audio-out on the Dish converter box.

I've had the same experience. I had the audi adjust the TV program to reduce input from the HA mikes, and that helped some, but in the end I don't use this unless my wife is not watching, doesn't want to hear what I'm watching, so that I put the TV on mute. Then it's fine.

Thanks Ira,

I will try to call the Factory tomorrow to see what their explanation is.

Do you also note a slight delay from the video? E.g. people's voices are not in synch with their lips.

I didn't notice the voices being out of synch with the speaker, but definitely could tell the digital voice was delayed relative to the analog voice.

Now keep in mind this BT unit is not designed for the hearing impaired, it's just to provide freedom for the wearer by not having to be tethered to the Stereo source.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming Profile (A2DP) does have a noticle delay. It is most noticable when watching TV or listening to a stereo and you hear both the sound delivered to you HAs by bluetooth and pick up the sound coming from the speakers in the room.

Very typical for BT (it is a slow transmission mode)

Do a search on the Blue tooth forum key words TV & delay. You'll see several discussion on it & the solutions. (ie using a loop system or separate TV device that is radio frequency based rather than bluetooth)

Thank you Squeezer, I will check it out.

the ideal solution is an FM system.. you would not need to use wires...
