I will be trying a pair of Oticon Sumo DM in two weeks. My last audiogram is as follows:
Right Ear:
250-70
500-90
1000- 100
2000- 95
4000- 85
8000- 100
Left Ear:
250-55
500-70
1000- 90
2000- 80
4000- 80
8000- 95
Speech Discrimination (unaided) at 110 db Right 0% and Left 16%
Do you think SUMO DMs are a good choice?
What other Hearing Aids would be worth trying?
What should I expect in the way of improved speech discrimination from power hearing aids?
Thanks

The Sumo DM would be a good choice for such a profound hearing loss. Another choice might be the Phonak Supero, just in case you need another alternative.
Yet, be advised that with poor speech discrimination results in your hearing test, no hearing aid can completely restore speech understanding.
With such poor speech understanding, hearing and understanding, especially in noisy environments can become very difficult.
In such cases, you may want to consider a FM remote microphone system such as the Phonak Micro Link. Do a search for it on this forum and you can find that info.
Otherwise, a cochlear implant may also be a viable option.
Please let us know how you do with the Sumo DM's.

As far as appearance the SUMO DM are fine. I am not sure at this point about the sound quality.
If someone is speaking loud enought I also get a sound similar to that of the wind makes when it blows over the microphone. It is kind of scratchy and It also happens with other sounds if they are loud enough. I can even feel the vibrations the sound make. My right ear is the worst for this and I had the similar thing happening with my old hearing aids.
At this point listening in noise is still stressful but this is something I expected and I am going to try an FM system.
What is going on and is there anything that can be done about it?
This is the first time I have had full shell earmolds, could this have something to do with it?

I would suggest you have your audi test your tolerance to loud sounds and ensure that the maximum output of the hearing aids do not exceed your UCL (uncomfortable loudness level).
There are also some test that can be done combined with some real ear measurements to test this part.
