Hi, I noticed today my Resound Pixel Digital Hearing aid started to shut the sound in my hearing aid twice today. I just put a new battery last week and check my battery. The battery is good. When the shutting the sound come in, I open the battery door and close it again. It turns back on again. I don't know why it is doing it now since I had it for 3 weeks.
thanks
The problem you describe can be occuring for several reasons:
1. The hearing aid is over-compressing or turning loud sounds too much, to the extent is sounds as if it is turned off. If this is the case, make sure the shutting down does not occur when you are in a very quiet room. If it only "shuts down" in a noisy place, then it may be over compressing.
2. The hearing aid may be intermittent. Sometimes this can occur when the battery contacts do not "grab" the battery as well as it should. Is this a BTE? (Please advise) They are sometime notorious for this.
3. Do you have 2 aids? If you do, does this happen simultaneously on both?
(please advise).
Thank you.

I have two hearing aids, but I was wearing one hearing aid that is my left side. I am wearing BTE digital hearing aids.
This shutting sound did happen to me with my old analog hearing aids because it was broken from the top. I just noticed again yesteday that happen with my old hearing aids. I will let my audiologist knows about it when I see her for follow up appointment next week.
thanks

My hearing aid shut the sound again today about 6 times. I wasn't in the quiet place when it happens. I will let my audiologist check it when I see her next week.

Your hearing aid shutting down like that is very odd. When it occurs, try pushing the button you use to change programs and see if it still switches.
If it does not, then the aid is completely shutting down for some reason. You may also want to try some different brand batteries also, just to rule that out, although the chances of the batteries causing this is slim.
Thank you.

I don't know why it is doing this shutting sound since this is only a month old. I will let my audiologist knows about it next week.

Hi,
I recently bought a digital hearing aid and experienced the same problem in one of the most common environments, also very tricky in terms of acoustics. I followed up with the audiologist and she believed it was just a matter of adjusting the hearing aid - too loud so it compresses, as other posts have mentioned. She also changed the receiver just in case. So you might want to have your audiologist check the receiver as well. I still had some trouble although not as much after two adjustments and decided to go with another brand of hearing aid. In my experience, it has been a financially painful process of trial and error as well as six of one, half a dozen of the other.
