Hi and thanks for this forum. Nice to have a chance to talk to people who know what it's like.

I have issues with both of my ears.

I've had 3 surgeries for Chohestomea in my right ear. Tried fitting a prostesis,, but it won't stay in place.

The left ear got real interesting. We knew there was fluid in the middle ear and quickly discovered it was cranial/spinal fluid leaking into the middle ear from a defect in the base of my skull. Had neurosurgery and I'm happy to say myhearing is improving too. Fixing the hearing was actually a afterthought, this could have killed me.

This week, I'm having surgery to install the abutment for a BAHA on my right side. Can't wait. I'm getting a "Ponto Pro" from Oticon Medical.

Anyone here had any experiences with Oticon Medical products? Seems "state of the art" to me.

Anyway, it's nice to know a site exists where people understand what it's like to lose your hearing.

Hi Tom,

Sounds like a rough time. I'm glad you are making it through all of your procedures! I had a student a couple of years ago that had similar issues, it required surgery on both ears. He comes back to visit my class a couple of times a year. He is doing very well with aids in both ears. He is a great kid that doesn't let anything get in his way.

Best regards,
Jeff

It is great that you have overcome your difficulties with lot of effort and forbearance. I had a friend of mine who also got a surgery of almost same kind but now he is much better.

Surgery is a great risk and I am sure that you must be proud of yourself for taking this risk. Hope you are doing great. Best luck.
