Getting Started

    Hi All,

I have never worn hearing aids before. I bought a set of Siemens Motion Micon 3mi on e-Bay after having a hearing test and learning how expensive it is to buy from a dispenser. I also learned I would have to pay $250 if I wanted a copy of my audiogram. I am stuck because no hearing center will program HAs that were not bought through them. These things are in a bag in my closet because I don't know what to do with them or where to go for help. I am willing to learn how to self-program them but I can't find anyone who sells the hardware.

I could really use some very entry-level guidance.

    Thanks in advance,
    Laurie

    Hi Laurie,

I just joined this group 5 minutes ago. I wear Siemens aids and I, like you, would like to learn how to program them for myself. I'm not quite sure how this forum works, have you received any responses to your query?

    Laurie,

I guess I answered my own question. I looked around and there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity here so perhaps we will have to look elsewhere.

You will first need a programmer such as a Hi-Pro, this will enable you to program any brand as long as you have the software...and the cords and the pills or plugs..all can be found on ebay, so you have Siemens..what year and series do you have, I may have the software for you..I even have a HI Pro for sale..PM me.

    Lauri,
I was successful in finding people to program my on-line bought aids. Not easy, but it is possible. However, each time I've had this done I had to pay $200. I'm now trying to figure how to self-program my Starkeys as I think that's a better option.

Once you get it figure out, it is easy. I went the HearSource rout and all the hardware and software was included. They had personal programming "coaches" to help me when I had a question.
