Thread: iPad pairing question

  1. #1

    Default iPad pairing question

Is it possible to pair an iPad with the BLUCRU/TEK remote?

I can play the ipad through the 2.5 mm jack on the remote, but it would be simpler to not have to use a cable. The advertising for te remote implies that this can be done, but the instructions only describe how to pair a cell phone.

When I follow the instructions for pairing a cell phone, nothing happens. I hold the green button on the remote down for 8 seconds, and nothing happens.

I haven't yet bought the Blu RCU, so I can't tell you anything based on experience with that device. but our Sony/Ericsson cell phones do have to have Bluetooth enabled before they can talk to our Garmin GPS; it's disabled by default.

Are you starting Bluetooth mode on the ipad? You might have to stop bluetooth on the ipad, then do the 8-second thing on the TEK, then quickly start bluetooth on the ipad.

Don, thanks. You gave me hope for a minute, but I tried it and It didn't work, unfortunately.

I have paired one other device to the iPad, and the iPad discovered it right away without my having to do anything.

Well, darn. I don't know, Bill. It should work. The ipad supports A2DP.

Have you paired a cell phone to the BLU Rcu?

No. I don't plan to pair a cell phone at this time. I do want to get a Bluetooth transmitter for my mp3 player. So, I would have the TV and these other two devices. I have contacted the audiologist and will meet with her on Sat. to see if I can get some help.

Try pairing a cell phone to the BLU Rcu just to make sure there is not something wrong with the Rcu. If you can get other things paired with both devices but not with each other then it is really strange.

I have paired my iPad to my ReSound Unite Phone Clip, so I know the iPad is capable. I went to find the Tek manual and read up on the pairing process. When you press and hold the button, does the display change to show that you are in Pairing Mode?

Look on page 22 of this online version of the manual.

Does the iPad show that it finds a new device once you put the Tek in Discoverable Mode?

Here is a link to a Pairing Guide for iOS devices.

Hopefully between these two guides you will find the missing link that you need to get it working. And as Don said, try pairing it with other devices to make sure that it is not a hardware failure in the Tek, or the iPad.

    Thanks for the links.

I went to the audiologist, and she solved the problem. The problem was that my BLU RCU wasn't set up for Bluetooth communications. The unit was set up for TV, and the program that ran the TV transmitter - which commucates to the BLU RCU via Bluetooth, incidentally - does not work for general Bluetooth device communications.

You have to have the P2 program set up for Bluetooth. The audiologist needs to do this. Once you get this done, you can pair your Bluetooth device to the BLU RCU, be it a cell phone, iPad or other. You can only have one device paired at a time via P2.

So, if you want to use the TV streamer and any Bluetooth device, you need to use two of your programs.

I now have problems with an intermittent wireless connection when walking, as well as general lack of audio quality. I think that I can get the audio quality problem solved with adjustments, but I don't know what to do about the intermittent natue of the wireless connection.

Glad to hear you got it going. My Resound Phoneclip works about the same way, one or the other hearing aid will drop out of a call and sometimes there is a little static if the phone is in my pants pocket during a call.
