Default Phonak Solana loud high frequency static

I'm trying Phonak Solanas and am getting a loud annoying static at the peak of certain high frequencies especially when watching TV. The audiologist is having a hard time tuning it out without killing the volume. Has anyone else had this problem and/or a solution?
This is my second set of fairly high priced HAs and haven't had much luck with either. I bought a mail order cheap ($400 each) pair for my first aids years ago and they still work better (as in I can understand speech better) than either the Sebo-Teks or the Solanas. But my insurance pays well for new aids and you would think I could get some that work better at five times the price than the cheapies.

Hello, I have a Solana half shell and have the high frequencies static as well, I have had this aid for 2 months and still not right yet. Did you get a fix for the static ? Also mines awful in the car for some reason.

    thanks !

Have you told your audi about the static and the car problems? It not tell them and they can work on it. If you have and audi with a laptop perhaps you can talk them into a car ride and they can fix the car problems while you drive. One of the specialist on the Forum did this for one of his patients. Good luck!

I haven't been back yet since I got it working decent,I will be going next week. Seems like this thing changes on it's own whem it wants. So far only thing better than my 10 year old mircle ear is the wind block and talking on the phone with no feedback.

  5. Default loud distortions

Certain sounds were glaring in my Phonaks. Especially on TV, and the car radio. Certain sounds are like chalk on the black board. Certain female singing voices, cymbals, etc. When they tried to turn down that part, the volume overall got too low. There is a compression adjustment in my aids that helped that problem. My understanding is that compression limits how loud certain frequencies can go, so they will take the edge off some of those parts that screach in your ear. It helped mine. I don't know if that adjustment available in all aids.

Wow sounds just like mine ! Yes there is a compression adjustment that he almost changed but then decided not to. I will have him look into that on the next adjustment. I was just having him knock down the highs but to so far to get the airplane head feeling. Thanks for the info My wife sounds like a robot on helium when in my car, but fine other times.
