Thread: Are all 312 batteries alike??

  1. Question Are all 312 batteries alike??

i am new to HAs. i have just been prescribed and using them for the last 4 days.

i am just wondering, should i run out of stock on 312s can i just buy any brand as long as its coded as 312s??? i have been googling and found some have 312s have higher MAHs and some have higher voltages at 1.45v.

the battery that came with my unit are oticon 312s, 14v 180mah.

    thanks!

312 is a standard battery size and they are all supposed to be interchangeable. Some people find that specific brands last longer. Many here prefer Ray-o-vac or some other brand produced by them.

I have found that batteries past their expiration date do not last as long as fresher ones.

I use any 312, and haven't found one to last any longer than the other. I tend to use the cheapest I can find. I too have found that batteries past their expiration date work, but don't last as long.

I use 312's and tend to get 5 days out of them, no matter what brand. I've been buying mine from e-bay and have been satisfied with them.

when I used 312's in my Rexton's I would get about 8 days so I just changed them every Sun morning.

With two samples of 5 & 8 days, it seems like 6.5 days +/- 1.5 days can be expected. Anybody have more samples? At least three more would be pretty definitive.

More mAh should equal more runtime and higher cost, other things being equal.

You can't do that type of comparison. I have a pair of GN ReSound Pulse aids that get 11 days at 16 hours a day, and my current aids use 312 batteries and I get about 5 days from them. The Pulse aids are basic one program aids with no controls, and the Remote Mic's are much more "sophisticated."

It depends on how accurate you want the final answer.
With now having four samples, 5, 8, 5, 11, Excel tells me that 3/4ths of the time you can expect between 5 days and 9.5 days.
Using the Student's t distribution you can do even fancier stuff.

Of course, if you take into account your aid's published current draw and battery mAh this interval will be narrower and more accurate. Possibly within +/- 10% of the true value is the best you can do.
