    Default Sam's club vs Costco

I'm long overdue for my first HA. Sam's is closer by 50 mins. Costco is 1hr 10 mins away. I hear a lot of praise for Costco & not much for Sam's. Is one product better than the other? I don't mind the xtra travel time & will get tested at Costco before I decide.
Has anyone tried both? Their prices are similar. Are their HAs similar?

Neither makes hearing aids. They market them. That is quite a distance to travel, are there any specialist in your community?

Costco has been on the market a lot longer and is far more well known. That makes a big difference there on how many people will have something to say about it.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I went to Costco and their hearing test was far more involved than the audiologist I went to. I would add to Cosmo's comment: that I don't think any audiologist make hearing aids either, they also just market them. The price difference between Costco/ Sam's and an audiologist can be in the thousands of dollars, so you have to weigh whether the cost of getting to and from and your time is worth the savings. Good luck!

There are specialists in my community but I think the savings is worth the travel time.

I have visited with people with both companies and from what I can tell the aids offered by Sams are not nearly as advanced technology wise as any of Costco's and more expensive when comparing feature to feature. Costco is hard to beat.

Actually, the aids at Sam's (Liberty Hearing Aids) are far more advanced that those at Costco. They offer ADRO technology, which was developed in conjunction with Cochlear Implant technology, whereas Costco (and many other places) still use compression technology (WDRC) that has been around for decades and can distort certain sounds depending on your hearing loss.

I've worn aids with ADRO technology from America Hears, and would beg to differ that they are more advanced. The sound processing algorithms are different, yes, but I wouldn't claim they're more advanced.

WDRC is a concept, not a type of technology. Manufacturers are free to use any concept they think will work and most use WDRC. The technology used to implement WDRC changes over time.

The prices at Costco are cheaper when you compare apples to apples. Costco includes a 36 month warranty and a 24 month loss and damage, along with everything you need. Sam's offers a 1 year warranty at their quoted price and tubes are extra? Compare apples to apples and don't assume anything is included at Sam's.

Costco aids are (of course) not manufactured Costco, but by GN Resound, Rexton (Siemens) Bernafon, and now also Phonak - which are some of the very prominent Hearing Aid producers in the industry.
