So far my loss has been a slow progressive loss. When I was first found to have a loss I was told it was not bad enough for hearing aids, and I for the most part forgot about it. Over the next 25 years it progressed to a mild to moderate loss and I got my first aids. Now 11 years later I have a moderate-severe to severe loss. My loss is a cookie bit loss, I have good hearing in the low frequencies, and a severe loss in the speech range and a moderate loss in the upper frequencies. I do very well with everything but speech. I still love music, now mostly instrumentals. I am setting her listening to the birds sing, and it sound great. But I struggle to hear what is being said. I have gotten to the point that TV is almost not worth it. I to fairly good with a Phone as long as I have the Bluetooth connection to use. I have my next hearing test this Thursday and I fully expect it to show a little more loss. Also my ringing in my ears is progressively getting worse.

To clarify what i expect from this poll:
I have read lot in recent time about hearing loss and i have a theory that when you got mild loss it will get worse no matter what you will do about.
Since this is most active forum about HA/Hearing loss it could be nice to know how other people hearing loss progressing.

You won't get enough data points to get an answer. Loss is based on a wide variety of reasons. Some have continued loss while the majority have a stable or very minimal progression.

I am 68 years old my loss is due to guns, electric equipment noise and fans, and jet engines. If you look at my numbers you will see that my loss is in the speech range, and I have fairly good hearing below and above it. I get disability for my hearing loss while in the service.

Your future is what you make of it. The key is being positive about what ever you do. You have to have a reason to live. I may have retired but I still do my best to help when ever and who ever wants my help. I also was an instructor and presented training to Microsoft Engineers but I always told them that I would not be able to help them if they were not willing to help themselves. I was not there to spoon feed them I was there to give them pointers to what they needed to learn and it was up to them to learn the material and most importantly put it to use.
