Default Tinnitus and hearing loss in older hearing aid wearer

I am 77, been wearing hearing aids for the past ten years. In the last year or two tinnitus has been noticeable as a constant bilateral buzzing. It seems to be better with my hearing aids but worse when I take them out, like at night. Are built in hearing aid tinnitus blockers helpful? Should I ry to wear my hearing aids at night? Thanks.

Like hearing loss, tinnitus is different for each person. What works for one can fail for another. I leave a radio on at night. Others use a white/grey noise generator or one with nature sounds. I think leaving them in at night would depend on how you sleep. I'm a side sleeper and it would probably cause feedback and physical discomfort leaving them in.

I have tinnitus 24/7 365 and I have had it for almost 35 years. I sleep with a white noise machine at night. I wear my aids all day and if need be I use a app on my IPhone to stream white noise or music to my hearing aids. I have had it so long that I have taught myself not to pay attention to it, but at times that does not work. I love and hate at the same time to be in a very quiet place, I love not having a lot of noise but I hate the fact that my ringing is so much more noticeable.

I use the tinnitus programs as needed.
I think of them as distractors rather than blockers. I describe them as distracting the brain from a noise by using another noise. On some occasions, despite turning on the Tinnitus noise filter, i still have to make a concerted effort to focus on the filter noise rather than the tinnitus squeal.
However to answer your question, yes I find them useful.
The comment to me from a family member when I was buying this set of hearing aids was essentially that the cost difference for a NON Ti and a Ti model was so small that I would be silly not to buy the Ti model.
I'd simply suggest that if you are now suffering from Tinnitus, then the next time that you buy new aids you consider adding the Tinnitus programs to the list of features.

My hearing aids have tinnitus blockers built in so it's a constant white noise in the background. Of course as soon as i take the hearing aids out at night the tinnitus gets worse. I don't think there's anything that can be done about that.

Same here since 43 years. I got roughly used to it. When being sick (serious cold, flew) than it becomes much worse.

I hate loud noises and mostly love peace and quite.

I've been wearing hearing aids for about 10 years, but up till now my habit has been to take them out fairly often, when I don't need them or want to listen to music or something.

But I've just gotten new ones -- Costco KS7 -- that I absolutely love. I put them in my ears first thing in the morning, and leave them there until I go to bed.

What's happening, though, is that when I take them out at night the tinnitus seems disturbingly loud. Weird. Also not very nice.

I run a window air conditioner year round to help me sleep. In cold weather I just set it to fan only. When we start to ice over I switch to an air purifier. With or without aids, the tinnitus is really noticeable in a silent room.
