Default i am losing the battle for my hearing

It is about time for my next hearing test I am putting together a list of notes for my audiologist. I had to say it but I am getting to the point that I don't want to be around anyone or any type of noise. Voices and any other noise sounds like garbage to me. I don't believe it is my aids. I believe I am losing the battle with my hearing. I cannot hear anyone behind me and if they do not get my attention first I will never understand what they are trying to tell me.

I was reading in your other thread you mentioned in August of this year that your tinnitus seemed to get worse. Do you think that this may be the cause of your hearing getting worse?

Not sure it does not seem any worse now then then.

Last night, I had my first test in 3 years.

My hearing has reduced 26% in my left ear, and 33% in the right.

33% hearing loss in 3 years is seriously frightening!

I used pretty crude math to make that calc, so those %s might not be entirely accurate ... but how ever you measure it, the audiogram looks worse at all frequencies...

And severe tinnitus (Does the noise in my head bother you?)

It's probably the decline in the middle frequencies that is causing all your issues. My sisters hearing has declined pretty close to what your loss os at 1.5 and 2K Hz and even with her HA's she struggles to hear. Prior to the drop, she did pretty well while wearing her HA's.

Chuck, I know it's frustrating. But as someone who'd love to have your level of hearing, let me just say that with some clever accommodations you can get by. I spend a lot of time fine tuning my HAs and choose the places where I hold conversations very carefully. I also spend a lot of time speech reading. It's not ideal, but I'm still able to function in the hearing world.

    Good luck!
