Default battery power?

It has just dawned on me that there may be a not so noticeable difference in ha functionality directly proportional to power remaining in battery.Would it be safe to assume that you are not getting full funtion of aids as your battery power diminishes?Does the aid function at the same level when new batts are inserted,as when the batts are in use for 20 hrs,or 3hrs. before your battery alarm goes off.I am trying to pay attention to my surroundings while trialing my first pair of ha's and just realized this possibility and my not being aware of it,may be a dumb question but would like some input. I think that the milliamp hrs.of the battery would be a constant, until diminished.TY

The way I understand it the battery produces full power for the hearing aid right up to the point when the battery looses it's life.

The digital process will either work or not.

However it is possible for the last few hours of lowered battery voltage to reduce the output to the final loudspeaker amplifier stage.

Several of my clients INSIST that their aids are quieter during the last day of battery life.

My clients say the same, so the difference must be noticable so at least a 3dB drop in gain.

Thumbs up

I think that I agree with English & Hear Now.Have had ha's 1 wk,no lo batt signal, but sensed a loss of volume. Not a lot of hrs. used in the wk.Changed batts.& founnd somewhat higher volume, will have to stay aware of this situation.I am documenting time between batt. changes.TY

In general batteries retain full power up to the end. In other words they don't slowly drain like an alkaline battery. As stated, some say towards the very end they may notice a difference in performance. I swear that my aids don't sound as clear when the battery gets towards the end of it's useful life. But maybe I'm cracking up.

I don't notice a degradation in the performance of the HA's as the batteries age, perhaps because it is very gradual, but I notice a big change when I fit new batteries. The sound is a lot crisper. Perhaps the battery performance does begin to droop towards the end of the battery life and is not as constant as we assume. I am trying out various makes of batteries to see if there is any difference. The problem is that it is difficult to be perfectly objective if one can't make definite measurements.

Peter, you can do what you want, but it just seems futile. Why not just change the batteries when you feel it's necessary. After all they're not that expensive.
