Unhappy help - lost hearing in left ear

I was diving to a depth of 4 metres (only)
and coming back up within 45 seconds on each dive
(no scuba gear) just in a swimming pool
then I jumped in off a high diving board
I landed funny on the left side of my body
smacked my face\ear and left shoulder \ chest into the water from quite a high height
anyway
besides the fact that it hurt
my left ear now doesnt work
cant hear anything
I waited for it to fix itself but nothing happened, still cant hear from my left ear and I have loud Tinnitus in my left ear only
What shall I do
any cures?

Default Get good help

Make an appointment with an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor) right away.

Dont' be worried, as things like this happen to many people. Your ENT will evaluate you and present your options.

That is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Keep us posted.

Good luck!

Default Be sure to tell them....

Be sure to tell the medical office that you call that this is a sudden hearing loss, usually those are treated with a little more urgency than a standard appointment. It is probably a conductive problem that is fixable, nonetheless, I wouldn't wait around on the appointment.

Best of luck.

Default Sudden Loss

Yes, please see and ENT ASAP and tell them you need to go in right away. Hopefully it is conductive, but if it is sensorineural, then treatment should be started within 1 week, so time is of the essense!

My first thought is blown ear drum from the pressure of hitting the water. If so it will be immediately apparent with an otoscope. This is generally repairable surgically.
Until you get it sorted out stay out of the water.
Don't wait.

Let us know.

Please go see an ENT ASAP , this may be easily fixed but the longer you wait the harder it is going to be to fix it

The most obvious thing to do would be to visit a doctor immediately. You wouldn't want to lose your hearing permanently would you? The sooner you go the better.
