I read on a package of Energizer 312 Batteries you should remove the tab and wait 1 minute to use, this is supposed to ensure the batteries are at full power.

I just started using the iCelltech batteries and have not an a bad incident as yet.

Some aids have very tight battery doors, so 'fat' batteries can block the air flow.

Opening the battery door will allow more air in, and you will be running ... for a while ... again.

Grease around the door edge can also block the air flow, so keep those aids clean!

Default iCell and interesting beeping

I haven't had problems with them dying quickly per se, BUT... a week ago I closed the battery compartment per usual in the AM and inserted the aid. My Oticon Dual's signal that they are working with a several tone chime. It chimed and then ...nothing. Not the usual rush of morning sound. A few seconds later the chime sounded again....and again....and again. This chime is very different from the low batter beep. But the aid never worked. In a phone call to my audi (Christmas eve day), he suggested that I change the battery even though it was only two days old. Magic! It worked. Day before yesterday, the same issue. I changed the battery again. Success.

I think I need a new brand of batteries. Suggestions?

Maybe it's dirty Battery contacts, try cleaning, I have had good success with the iCellTech batteries so far, I am on my 4th set they are lasting 6-7 days with out issue.

Thumbs up Icell Work great.

I have been using icell for 14 months and they last good and I will get more when needed. I am not aware of any bad brands out there today.

Default same type of icelltech problems

My wife bought some icelltech size 10 from localbattery through eBay several months ago. The first couple of months, I had no problems. However, the last month, they've been making me crazy.

They started seeming to die early. At first within a few days. Then it became within a few hours. One started beeping about 5 minutes after I installed it.

I always change batteries at the same time, as my experience has been that the opposite HA is not far behind the first one to start beeping. What I've starting doing is to switch the batteries between the HA's when this starts happening to see if it's a problem with one HA or if the problem "follows" the battery. I've discovered that the problem stays with the "offending" battery. So I don't think it's a problem with my HAs (AH SIE - I've had them for about 21 months).

Also, I've noticed that if I leave them in, they will keep working, but continue to give me a low battery warning every few minutes, for sometimes up to a couple of days. It's very annoying, but I'm too cheap to keep throwing them out. That makes me think that it's not so much that it's dying, as it is that the voltage is low; perhaps right at the threshold level.

I usually let them sit for several minutes after peeling off the sticker, so that shouldn't be the source of the problem. However, reading on this thread, it seems they need to continue to "breathe" after peeling off the stickers. I think I'm going to try opening the air hole very, very slightly with a needle, perhaps, whenver this starts (like now - my battery is only 4 hours old and is beeping).

If anyone has any thoughts on this, let me know. Otherwise, I'll let you know the results of my experiment in a few days.

Thanks, all, and God bless.

Unhappy follow up

Okay, live and learn, I guess.

I tried to slightly enlarge the hole of the offending battery, to get a bit more air in. No change; it still periodically indicates low battery.

I then tried to enlarge it a little more (worst case scenario was that I ruin it, and toss it out). There seemed to be a liquid coming out, so I turned it upside down on a piece of paper before putting into my HA, just in case. Sure enough, there's a liquid leaking (perhaps a medium for the zinc???).

So, I've contacted localbattery and I'll see what they suggest.

Thanks, again, and God bless!

Read the directions on the package.
These batteries are air activated. Sometimes it takes about a minute after pulling off the yellow tab for the batteries to start working.

This whole scenario repeats itself on about 30% of the batteries. I don't understand why (perhaps linked to oxygen diffusion to power the battery??), but it works for me.

I purchased 60 iCell #10 batteries a couple of months ago. 1st few packages great, got 7 to 8 days per battery. Last night with no low battery alert, left ha goes dead on a 2 day battery. I ended up trying 12 new batteries before I got one to work. And yes, I waited a couple of minutes after removing the tab. The new battery worked all day and then the same thing. Funny though, if I open the battery door and leave it open for a few minutes it will work for another 10 minutes then the ha goes dead.

Going to the drug store to get a different brand of battery and see what happens.

I want a battery that works immediately after the tab is pulled because, with my job, I can't afford to wait a minute for activation. I'm reading all I can here before I make the commitment to order a large batch thru mail-order.
