Should a $6000 hearing aid with Bluetooth sound as good as a $150.00 Cell Phone Bluetooth?
Should a high end hearing aid sound good for listening music on an ipod via hearing aid Bluetooth? |

In general, more expensive hearing aids have technology that allows them to help the patient hear speech more easily in noisy or difficult environments.
More basic, less expensive aids do not have the technology that makes this possible. This technology is expensive to develop, so aids that have it will typically be more expensive. |

Why do you assume it is a spammer or a troll? Seems like a valid question to me. |

I believe Doc1 is a spammer, I looked into his 7 post and all are basically the same.

got to admit it does raise a valid point like whenever I try to use magnetic coil to switch to telephone mode in a 1500$ aid. It sounds so low and alien with a constant buzz. I can't even understand a single word.
take my aid out, put my ear directly to the phone worth 45$ and 34db gain and it almost sounds like they are in the room with me. This is big factor why I gripe about high priced hearing aids. other extremely cheap tech is able to do a better job than the aid. Then I have to ask how is the blue tooth quality of sound when playing an mp3 or TV? is it going to have buzzing like the magnetic coil phone option? Is it going to sound much lower? Is it going to distort the sound so a mans voice sounds more childish?

I find the sound quality to be amazing with TVs and computer. (I don't have an iPod.) No buzzing noise from electrical interference that t-coils are so prone to. Bluetooth and cell phones? I think it's a waste of money. I can usually hear well, though that depends on the quality of the telephone of the person on the other end of the line. But people cannot hear me well and my voice sounds like it's on speakerphone or otherwise difficult to hear. The sound quality for them is bad. I have to shout at the really loud, annoying level that makes people hate cell phone users. I use the iCom and the iCom hangs on a loop around my neck. That puts it 9 inches away from my mouth, much further away that any bluetooth headset. The iCom microphones are omnidirectional, meaning that they pick up everything in the environment. Background noises tend to be overwhelming to callers on the other end of the line. The microphones can be turned down, but then you run the risk of your voice being too soft for the person you're speaking to. Maybe there's a happy medium but my audiologist won't work with me on that. Personally, I don't see how the iCom can ever work nearly as well as a bluetooth device and a regular headset. The iCom sits just too far away from your mouth to pick up your voice without also without picking up alot of other noise.
I don't know about other bluetooth devices with manufactured by anyone but Phonak, but the iCom as a bluetooth headset with cell phones is a complete disaster. I would think that other brands would have the same problem unless they come up with a way to compensate fo that problem. |
