Default Movie theaters

I just posted this in the more general "Hearing Aid Forum," then realized it was more relevant to "Digital Hearing Aids" section. Sorry for the repeat......

Okay, I'm starting week three of my trial of Phonak Naida S IX UPs and for the most part I'm really thrilled with how much more I'm hearing. The ComPilot with the TVLink is freakin' FANTASTIC for watching TV, the StereoZoom is killer in noisy restaurants, the auto Zoom Control is great for hearing my daughter in the back seat of the car.

BUT! I just went to a matinee of The Woman in Black and gave up forty minutes in, having only picked up an occasional word here or there. I know that's partly owing to the fact that most of the actor's had stilted, British accents, so on my way out I ducked into four other theaters to see if I could hear any of them better. The only film I was able to pick up enough of the dialogue to follow the movie was Chronicle - I only missed a word here and there in the ten minutes I sat and watched.

So, what is it? Are movies just inherently difficult for reasons we can't do anything about? (In how they mix the sound, or perhaps just because it IS all completely mixed/coming from one source) Why might Chronicle have been so much easier to follow? (I don't think it had to do with background noise, because the scene I watched in another flick had none and I couldn't follow it.)

Most importantly, to any pros out there who might know - Might my HIS be able to set up a program specifically for movie theaters?

Deb,
If you have the telecoil activated in the Naida's you might of been lucky enough to be in a theater with a loop which I have found in only a few theaters I've been to, but when It's looped you don't miss much. I know some people on this Forum have programs in their HA called theater, so talk to your HIS can set one up for you. Good luck!
