FWIW, most of the time I noticed the reduced volume, I was using Duracell batteries.

sounds like a battery that still has mercury content... the discharge graph differs from a zinc discharge and from what I am learning.. your discription would appear to follow that "logic"

try a battery that says it is zinc air..... no mercury and see if that changes your results

thanks i'll look at the packet when i get home, when i changed HA the brand did change from powerone to siemans.
