I am 30 years old I have severe hearing loss in my right ear. I had the loss for about 6 years. Well that's when I noticed it. I would of been around 24. There was a sudden a drop in my hearing. The problem is the doctor can not give me a reason. They did a scan but It was ok. Then last year there was another big drop in my hearing. The hearing doctor just says that there is nothing they can do it probably will get worst. I had a hearing test 6 months after then it was better I recovered some sounds back. I then went again last week and it has dropped again a little. Some days my ear feels clearer then some days I feel death. I went to hearing aid specialist (private) then she said I should take it further as for my age I should not be getting the results I'm getting. That if my hearing continuing to drop and some days hearing is better, it does not sound right and the doctor should not be saying nothing they can do. There got to be a reason to it?? I'm confused what to do. I work in a call centre for 10 years, that could be a reason? I had an ear infection in the past and it was really bad but that could answer for the 1st drop but would it get worst with out any other infections? I listened to loud music when I was younger but not now. I used to stick cotton buds in my ear a lot when I was younger. I know that was wrong, could that cause that type of damage?
It could be something I was born with and got worst slowly but I have identicle twin brother and he has no problem with his ears. So my question should I take it further and demand to be looked into further? Should my hearing be clear some days then another day muffly? Do I just do nothing and hear it go worst and worst? There got to be a reason! It's really frustrating and feel at my age I should not going through this loss. It's only now I'm starting to wear a hearing aid for that ear, i know i should not left it that long, but i have coped relying on my good ear. Looking to get phonak Ambra, probably cic. Try this search
http://www.google.com/search?client=...UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 I would pursue this variability issue for as along as it takes to find a reasonable solution. The doctor's response may mean there is no single, high-probability cause. So be it; settle for many unlikely causes and search each one. Eventually you can come up with a Decision Tree as to what it might be, and then search each branch, starting with the highest likelihoods. Last edited by ?tahW; 04-04-2012 at 02:56 PM. |
