Or there can be posters who think they have a "Constitutionally guaranteed right of free speech," when of course, the U.S. Constitution guarantees no such thing in any privately run forum or business enterprise--the Bill of Rights only blocks most government suppression of speech. Also, there can be people with a sales agenda who mislead users looking for unbiased advice.

So thank you, Admin, for moderating the forum actively and encouraging positive member behavior.
actually the free speech applies to private sector as well in the USA.

What The issue is people think free speech is the right to say absolutely anything they want.

The true limit of free-speech is: One man'/woman's actions end at the next man's/woman's face.

So name calling or pure slander is in effect hitting the other person which violates the others freedom's that is the true limit.

The reason free speech was allowed in private sector is large companies of the time of our founders were ruthless in quelling any dissidence among the workers, forcing them to work in substandard sub pay environment.

It wasn't just the government that quelled disagreement.

So with that understanding our founders said free speech but left location in which it applied absent.

Quote from wiki free-speech "Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's ideas via speech. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, as with libel, slander, obscenity and incitement to commit a crime."

Hell stand corrected in regards to private sector this really makes me hate large corporations even more in that their attitude is is everyone is slave to them and you the INDIVIDUAL have absolutely no rights at all.

Free speech of my youth isn't alive anymore.......... Thanks a lot corporate interest. corrupt interests.

example of how free speech limiting being expanded in that you could use free speech in private sector when I was a kid.
http://toddlaynecleanerssucks.com/

this is one of the main reasons we had free speech in private sector to begin with along with union protesting/ boycotting.

we absolutely need separation of business and state and reverse the bill that declared companies as individuals.

example without free speech in private sector I would not be able to speak out against corporate abuse of employees. So say as a disabled i am getting abused by my employer and I wanted it to stop this effectively stops me from telling my coworkers it is happening in that coworkers in numbers could get the employer to stop abusing me the disabled worker.

This is just wrong. I am firm believer of the quoted definition regardless to where public or private in that it is one of the few things that allows us the individuals to address wrong doing done to us by getting the masses to band together. which requires free speech.

guess that's my two cents in that we were both rights just different time frames your current, mine past.

all I can say is no wonder we are in the mess we find ourselves in today when we strayed from our roots. Original constitution and bill of rights.

anyway admin thanks for trying to keep this site as a level playing field in that when I try to address wrong doing by corporate interest I seemed to be quashed everywhere I go.

Default New HA user needs advice

I recently began a trial with the Starkey Wi and loved them. Then I met someone from the local Deaf Action Center who advised me that I shljd have shopped around more, got them from my ENT who only fits Starkey. The woman from the DAC told me about all kinds of accessories which would significantly improve my situation such as a wireless neck loop for use at work, (I work in a call center and this would eliminate the need for a headset) another one to bluetooth to my cell phone, etc.

Yesterday I went to a dispenser who carries several brands and they fitted me with ReSound Alera 9 and it has the bluetooth neck loop, tv receiver, etc included and this package is about $1,000 less than what i paid for the Starkey HA's w/o any accessories.

Does anyone have any experience with these two brands and/or any advice for me??

Thanks in advance,

diedlemary

Default Hearing Aid becoming "unplugged)

I have a pair of Opticon Duel XW that I have been more than satisfied except for a problem of the little wire with the speaker becoming unexpectedly detached (unplugged) from the expensive part of the hearing aid causing the the hearing aid to fall off my ear. I have brought this to the Audiologist but the problem persists. I understand later models have to be disassembled to detach the little wire that holds the unit inside your ear lobe. Has anyone else had this problem? Robbie

I have learned so much here. I am a first time buyer of hearing aids and I was able to figure out what and where to buy. Many hours went into research here and eleswhere and I bought a different pair than expected, yet this forum was invaluable to me.
Thanks so much

Many thanks to the owner and Admin. of this forum. There is really no other resource available like this one. The other forums I've found just do not have the participation or information that is available on this forum.

You seem to have a good mix of knowledgeable HOH, professionals, and old grumps. All of these are required for a successful forum. LOL.

Thanks, as soon as I know what battery I end up with, I'll place an order. Thanks a bunch.
