Default Vacation with a hearing loss

So my family's going to Vietnam tomorrow - Ho Chi Minh city . However, with my recent hearing loss, I don't know if I'll be able to enjoy the trip. It just makes everything seem so dull and depressing. Even the noisy bustling of the airport which I used to enjoy so much wouldn't sound anything like it used to. I haven't yet gotten my aids, so right now I'm still kind of in a transitional period. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to enjoy my vacation despite my hearing loss. Thanks. ^^

I think it best just trying not to think about your hearing. Face it, there is nothing you can do about it at this point anyway. Be thankful for the hearing you still have. Focus on enjoying the time with your family, and let all of your other senses drink in the experience.

No one can make you have a good time or a bad other than you. How exciting. Beautiful Vietnam. Have fun.

You can still enjoy things. A couple of years ago, I realized a life-long dream of going on safari in Africa. One of the best things I did was to tell the other 13 people in my group and then each new guide as I went to different places that I had a hearing loss. Everyone was extremely helpful and made sure I had all the important information and most of the interesing information. I had a blast! I'm just now trialing a couple of brands/models of aids (my loss is due to bilateral Meniere's) since technology now seems adequate to actually help me. I'm sure I missed some things on my Africa trip but I saw lots and heard lots (including an elephant trumpeting right next to our vehicle!) and you will too.
