Default Waterproof BTE HA with Volume control and program selector

I just returned from a demo of Ambra M H20s HA and left disappointed. I had been told over the phone and at the demo that the Ambra could have a single control that acted both as volume control and program selector. I was all set to order them when a phone call to Phonak got the news that this information was incorrect and I could have only volume or program control on the HA's. (I know there is a separate remote available that controls volume but it is too large and cumbersome for me to carry around.) Question: Is any company making waterproof (or true water resistant) BTE hearing aids with program selector and volume control? Any announcements for the near future?

My in-the ear 6 year old Phonak Savias need replacement and I really liked the new Ambra BTEs. They seemed far more comfortable and in the short time I tried them I was hearing better. Obviously the technology has improved in 6 years (as a number of people said here). But I perspire a great deal behind the ears. Perspiration doesn't get to the Savias. With the Savias I use the volume control as well as the selector switch often. For example, I use the music setting for birding at full volume but cut down the volume three quarters for classical music concerts. And with the prime setting here in New York City with the varying loudness in the streets and subways I lower the volume at times.

Right now it looks like I may have to compromise and keep using the Savias. I apologize for venting but wonder if there are any suggestions.

While I can't help on the recommendation for a different waterproof HA, I would like to suggest that you try the Ambras for longer than the demo period in the office. Phonak has gotten quite a bit better at the automatic features since the Savia's and you might find that you don't need the volume control. I find that even my long-time hearing aid wearers often realize that they don't need the volume control and that the aid itself is pretty good at adjusting the volume for you.

Just a suggestion.

Default HA's with remote and water resistance

Just a note that the Costco Futures are water resistance and they have one control that controls volume and selection. These are made by GN Resound, from what every one tells me. The Resound name is Alera.

I have a pair of the Futures and I feel they are quaility HA's.

My first HA's, but I can hear much better that without.

I hope this helps on your selection.

The Alera/Future has very little body water resistance, it's an endo-skeletal design which can be split by taking the mic cover off and moving the side-pods backwards.

It does have nano-coating on the external faces which moves moisture away more quickly in beads.
