Default Non-occlusive aids for mild loss

Hi, I'm 73 and have always had good hearing. I noticed recently that I sometimes miss words and need them to be repeated. I haven't yet had an audiogram. Would like advice about mini non-occlusive aids, bte vs. rite. Thanks. Steve

Open fit RIC (RITE) like Resound Alera would satisfy what you are asking, as would many other models from other manufacturers.

Open fit means the soft tips at the end of the wire, the part that goes in your ear, have holes to prevent occlusion and to let in some natural sound.

But, post your audiogram when you get it. You may have more hearing loss than you realize.

SRT L/R = 60/55 , WRS @ 105 L/R = 80/84%

Currently - Resound Future from Costco w/Phone Clip.

Hi,

here you can test your hearing.
digital-recordings dot com

These test are not as accurate as audis can make, so it's highly recommended to go to one of them.

I just had the audiogram, saw it, but don't yet have a copy. Both ears are identical, bone and air. Normal hearing to 1000K, then gradual drop to 40 or 50 dB at 4000 K. Audio recommends non-occlusive Starkey 3, Phonax Naida-SCRT, Resound Alera or Siemens Aquarius. All advice would be appreciated. --Steve

I am exactly your age and have used open fit (meaning not occluded) for 18 months. My hearing is somewhat worse than yours. Since I have used only one brand (Phonak) - couldn't comment on differences between brands.
The main advantage for me of open fit HA is that I can use a phone normally. (I never had trouble hearing on a phone. I can use a cell phone as a "normal" person and wear my cell phone's Bluetooth hours every day. My business is phone intensive.
