Default How do you dry your ears?

Like many people I have a quick morning routine involving a shower and out the door. I would like to be able to communicate with my wife at some point before I leave (!). I had been using toilet paper and Q-tips, but my ear Dr. put a stop to that. I don't want to use the hair dryer as it it very loud and probably not all that healthy either. Is there some other handheld device I've not heard of for quickly drying your ears so you can put your aids back in within minutes of a shower??

2012 - Starkey Wi i110 - Good, kept. (ReSound maybe better?)

How bout using a good pair of water tight earplugs to keep your ears dry in the shower.

When I was real young, a real long time ago, my mom would tell me not to put anything in my ear other than my elbow. Then later in life along came hearing loss and hearing aids.
I had the same issues you have and I went to my doctor and asked that if I was a good boy could I please use Q-tips to dry my ears. He said it was impossible for me to be a good boy however go ahead and use them with caution. That was back in 1984 and I have not had any issues using Q-tips to dry my ears.
For me, Q-tips or "cotton swabs" work best in getting all of the moisture out of your ears. I also use them to apply a small amount of 1% hydrocortizone ointment each day to keep the ears from getting "itchy" and the ointment also acts as a good sealer that assists in eliminating feedback.
One bit of advice, rotate the Q-tip between your thumb and index finger, prior to inserting, to determine which way the cotton swirls and use that direction when inserting in your ear.

That's just nuts. Unless you're ramming it your ear - why can't you use a Q-Tip? I've been drying my ears that way since I was a child. 44 years old, still hasn't damaged my hearing. Just be careful and don't go deep.

No one should recommend q-tips in the ears. You push wax into your ears and risk puncturing your eardrum.

I dry my outer ear with a towel and put my hearing aids in.

Not if you're doing it the right way. I've never had a doctor, primary care or ear specialist, that said "Don't use Q-tips." I've found these warnings along the same lines as needing directions on how to use shampoo.

if you can't use the hair dryer because it's loud.. maybe get yourself some of that 'canned air' at a computer store?

because you never asked the question or you asked and they said it was OK? all q-tips do is push the crud in deeper.
