Default Where to Recycle Batteries?

I would like to send my used/dead HA batteries somewhere where they can either be safely disposed, or recycled.

I've googled some options, but they say I would have to tape up the batteries before sending so they don't touch....(what a pain)....

Do local stores have a place to return dead batteries?

What to do !!

Go to the website below, near the top you can enter your zip code to search for drop off locations. Or call 1-800-8-BATTERY

I take my old batteries to Radio Shack. I'm not sure, but I think that all Radio Shacks will accept your batteries for recycling.

Do you think that they really do recycle them or just throw them away after you leave the store? Even if they accept them for recycling, who would they send them to? Can hearing aid batteries be recycled?

My post office has a box for batteries.

I am sure anybody collecting them risks big trouble with the feds if they aren't at least disposed of properly. I can't say if any of the material can be extracted to be used again.

My local Library has a bin for recycled batteries. You may want to check there

It's a law in California that batteries can't be disposed of in the trash. Don't think it's federal law to recycle batteries. So it depends on what state your in and how conscientous you are.
