as an unemployed, dislocated worker, money is extremely tight. I am heading back to school to retrain.
I am concerned about the classroom... I have purchased a digital voice recorder for lectures, and a listening device, but still... I sent a note to the Lions Club asking if there is a program that might help me out, but do you know of any others? Thanks... |

In NYS there is Vocational Rehabilitation Services. It's predominately federal funded (so there IS money available) and it's been very helpful to HOH people in my area.

I made about a dozen calls today, and find there isnt much on a state level. I did find a local dealer that will sell me used aids, claiming they have an open fit that can be properly programmed to my needs.
More calls on the horizon, though. I will check back in with what I learn.

If you are in Michigan, try Michigan Rehabilitation Services or talk to a local Audiologist ~ that is how I found out about MRS and who is assisting me with my new hearing aids. It takes forever but well worth it. I have been working with my case worker for 6 months and just got approved ~ get mine Wednesday of next week!
