Default Are Phonak aids complicated to be programmed?

I have decided to return my Starkey aids though the problem might be my hearing loss and not the aids. I am considering Phonak Audeo YES or Smart ,but don't think the Phonak guy will do a good job if they are complicated to be programmed.

Can I do that myself?

I don't know if they are complicated or not but I wear them. I wear Phonak Certena and like them.

Phonak software has lots of flexibility to adjust these aids and if the fitter is a tinkerer, with little knowledge of just how Phonak works, then he/she can stuff things up a bit. If the fitter hower sticks to the basics, .i.e performs audiogram direct, feedback limit test and REM, then all should be fine.

Sure you can. It requires two things, hardware and software. For hardware, you need either a hipro machine plus cables, or an iCube. As for software, the Phonak iPFG is needed....

If you ever go that route, you probably will need to read up the manuals on it, to familiarize yourself with the equipment. It won't be no fun to try to explain to your audi what you did (screw up your configuration)....

phonaks are about the most complicated aids to program. The reason is that phonak
gives you a lot of parameters for you to tweak. So a good understanding is needed,
However, there is a fast fit which of course is easy to do.

On the other hand, widex is the easiest instrument to fit...

Does the number of channels a reason for this? I guess Phonak premium products have many channels, or is it flexibility which should be an advantage?
